Bones & Jones

  • Description:

Bones and Jones are well renowned for their unique brand of song writing and impressively tight live show. With three albums and a collaborative EP with Folk Bitch Trio to their name, the band’s output matches the frenetic energy of their live performance which has seen them support notable artists including King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard, The Nude Party (USA), The Murlocs, Twin Peaks (USA) and appear at festivals including Port Fairy Folk Festival and Meadow, Boogie Festival.

Forming during highschool in Geelong and now based out of an old apple orchard on the Victorian surf coast/Wathaurong Country the band draws inspiration from the landscape that surrounds them and their decade long friendships within the band. Their blend of country tinged vintage rock is coupled with a contemporary energy that allows them to feel familiar without being stuck in a revivalist pigeonhole.

This impressive melting pot of sounds and memorable hooks has been recognised by NME, The Guardian, Triple J and has seen the band’s second album Ginger Gold (Farm Singles) nominated for the prestigious Australian Music Prize and Victorian Music Awards.

Skyscraper Stan and his longtime touring band and collaborators the Commission Flats have generated a body of work that has attracted a loyal, and more recently global, fanbase drawn to Stan’s easy lyrical style, inventive arrangements and deft genre twists and turns.

With the Sydney Morning Herald calling him “a revelation,” his two previous albums, including 2015’s Last Year’s Tune and 2019’s Golden Boy, and between them a live solo album in 2017 Live at Some Velvet Morning, shone a light on Stan’s ability to write concise and accessible narratives in a timeless style, suggesting a writer steeped in the traditions of the classics but looking to refresh that sound for the modern era. Ella Hooper is an iconic Australian singer-songwriter who first shot to fame as the vibrant frontwoman of Killing Heidi. The teenage band from country Victoria defied the odds, dominating the early 2000s with a No.1 album, multiple hit singles, sold-out tours, and Rolling Stone covers. Now an acclaimed solo artist, Ella’s genre-spanning work—across synth folk, rock, country, and Americana—has further cemented her legacy. Her latest album, Small Town Temple, written in her hometown of Violet Town during a time of deep personal loss, has been lauded for its raw emotion, authenticity, and distinctive Australiana perspective. The record debuted at No.1 on the Australian Country chart and was nominated for the Australian Music Prize.

The Badloves

  • Description:

The Badloves became a household name in the 90’s with their debut album Get On Board. It spent a massive 69 weeks in the charts, peaked at No. 5 and went on to achieved double platinum sales. The critically acclaimed album delivered four hit singles: Lost, Memphis, I Remember and Green Limousine. The band then went on to be nominated for five ARIA Awards – Album of The Year, Single of The Year (Lost), Breakthrough Artist – Album, Breakthrough Artist – Single (Lost) and Best New Talent. The band secured two awards for Breakthrough Artist – Album and Breakthrough Artist – Single.

After extensive tours in Australia and Europe, they released their second album in 1995, Holy Roadside. It was a Top 15 chart debut, received further ARIA nominations, and another string of hit singles in Slave, Barefoot Bride, Living Thing and Caroline, establishing them as one of this country’s premier acts.

Whilst The Badloves wagon has rarely left the road in 30 long years, their recording output has been sparse. The drought finally broke in late 2019 when the band released the superb soulbrothertruckinsong – their first new single in 17 years.

The Badloves continue to build on their legacy with the arrival of their recent single, Tribal, which has already received strong support from Australian radio. The song was inspired by one of Michael Spiby’s recurring dreams. Spiby explains “I don’t usually remember dreams, they’re so hard to catch. But often enough I wake up disturbed by this one recurring theme…how will I keep my little tribe together in tough times, am I up to the task? ‘Tribal’ is my recurring dream, caught in the light of day.”
