Full Flower Moon Band

FRIDAY

Full Flower Moon band are the definition of rock ‘n’ roll.

Frontwoman persona ‘Babyshakes Dillon’, walks in many shoes, from snakeskin boots to stilettos. This alter ego can act as a convenient buffer between the songwriter and their words, particularly when they’re bowing at the altar of excess.

Since the release of their 2021 EP “Death or Hell” (4ZZZ Album of the Week), they’ve bagged tours with rock godfathers, The Black Crowes (USA) and support slots with the likes of Frankie and The Witch Fingers (USA), The Murlocs, Bad Dreems & more, with the show described as “full frontal rock onslaught.”

Unconcerned by fuel economy and rising inflation rates, in August they released their new LP “Diesel Forever”. Recent singles have garnered the band hat-tips from all the right heads: “Trainspotting” spent five weeks in the AMRAP Community Radio Top 10 and was featured in Netflix hit, ‘Heartbreak High’, while Dave Ruby Howe from triple j Unearthed described “NY-LA” as a track with “a level of sneering, unattainable cool that is hard to fake”. The album is a manifesto of a tight collective in pursuit of the stratosphere, and unafraid of burning up on the journey.

Full Flower Moon Band was so named to suggest a project that is expansive and fully open to possibility, but their latest album Diesel Forever mixed by ARIA award-winner Michael Badger, is the first album with a permanent band, bringing the grind, groove and grit: Luke Hanson on drums; Caleb Widener and Christian Driscoll on guitars; and Marli Smales on bass. Alternately deadpan, bravado-fuelled, sinister and coaxing, the band explores themes of hedonism and burn-out on Diesel Forever.

The album catapulted opportunities for them, having just wrapped a national tour with The Black Crowes; playing venues such as Palais Theatre and The Enmore, there isn’t much this onslaught can’t handle and 2023 is set to be the biggest year yet. The band has quickly solidified themselves as one of Australia’s biggest rock acts with festival slots on Boogie Festival, Gumball Festival and more to be announced. The band has also received a nomination for The Music Underground Hidden Gems competition and are finalists for The Billy Thorpe Scholarship.

Get ready for the turbulence that is Full Flower Moon Band.
