The Mantelli Five are a family band who don’t wear matching beige pants and white shirts. They’re not happy-clappy, but they’ll make you happy and they hope you’ll clap at some stage. Daddy-o Ubatron plays ukulele and percussion, Mumma-B plays flute and piano accordion, eldest Etienne Kenichi plays upright cello, guitar and bass, Edmund Mondo Man plays violin and guitar, little Livvy Skivvy Lu plays percussion and violin, and they all sing. The kids are young and small, but put ‘em on milk crates and their solos are huge. They all collaborate to write originals and create their own takes on some well-known popular chart-busters. Their music spans many styles, but always contains layers of texture, groove and rhythm with sweet melodies and a bit of humour. |
