The Herd’s reputation as a fiery and electrifying live group grew in 2006 & 2007, with high profile spots on festivals, and sold out shows at Sydney’s Metro Theatre and Gaelic Club; The Corner in Melbourne and venues across Australia. 2008 saw the release of their 4th album Summerland, that debuted at #7 on the ARIA Album charts and reached #2 on the Top 40 Urban Album charts and was nominated for an ARIA. The album went on to win 'Best Independent Urban/Hip Hop Album' at the AIR (Australian Independent Record Labels Association) Awards that year. The lead single was 'The King is Dead', and their flip clip for ' 2020' (directed by the talented Mike Daly) went on to win the J Award for Best Music Video 2008. One of the Herds personal highlights of 2009 was the 'Cannot buy my soul' concerts with Kev Carmody, Paul Kelly, Tex Perkins and countless others. 2010 saw them have a break from the live circuit while they refocused on working on an new album. The new album is due mid 2011, and the first single 'Sum of it all' is out and available for download by donation on the elefant traks website. In an unconventional set-up, The Herd perform with two MCs, two singers, an acoustic and an electric guitar, bass, piano accordion, clarinet, laptops and MPC 1000s. It’s big! | |||
