2011 Rip-a-Riff 4 Queenscliff Songwriting Competition
APPLICATIONS NOW OPEN
With the proud support of our friends at APRA | AMCOS, the Queenscliff Music Festival is once again running a local songwriters competition at this year's festival.
MOVE US AND WE WILL MOVE YOU !
The competition is aimed at those working or budding South West/Bellarine/Surf Coast musicians that have something to say and feel it’s worth saying about this town, the surf, the bay, life here on the Bellarine. Entrants are required to submit an original piece of work on the theme of Queenscliff which provides a perspective on the town/area/festival ie what its like to live and/or holiday here, the surf, coastal environment, history, friends, family etc. So pining about the Cypress Pines as you drive into Queenscliff will hit the mark more than pining about Norwegian Fjords
THE PRIZE !
The best 8 entries will be judged by a selection panel on Saturday morning of the festival. The winner will receive two days of mentoring with a renouned Australian songwriter and a full-day recording in a quality studio inclusive of sound engineer and mastering. In addition, if you are up to it, you will have a spot on one of the main stages on the Sunday afternoon of the festival to perform or recite your winning song.
WHY ?
We can’t give a gig to everyone who submits their songs during our normal artist submission earlier in the year. We get hundreds of applications for less slots than we have fingers and toes. By working with and having the support of APRA | AMCOS, we can give a local artist an unique opportunity to show us what they have and help them along the way.
RULES
The competition rules are simple. Especially when you keep in mind the following – we care about the song, the words, its originality, the story and feeling that it conveys. We are not judging your performance. You must be an APRA | AMCOS Member.
HOW TO ENTER
Just create it, write it and submit it by any form before Wednesday 9th November (with ALL relevant contact details) to
Rip a Riff for Queenscliff
PO Box 148
Queenscliff VIC 3225
We will contact you via your given details by Wednesday 16th November about whether you made the final 8 or you missed out. Selection is final and made according purely to the rules above. Selected entrants will receive a Saturday wristband to the festival. The winner will receive a weekend wristband. Duos and groups are allowed so long as the writing is a collaborative effort amongst all members.
If you are aged 12-25, then please feel free to participate in our FReeZa FOOT-in-the-DOOR program. This well established program is also a great vehicle for you.
