QUEENSCLIFF MUSIC FESTIVAL ANNUAL FUNDRAISER - SATURDAY 27th JUNE.Warm your winter soul...
SOLD OUT!
Dan Sultan.Ella Thompson.Stephen McEwan & The Yes Men.Saturday 27th June sees the return of the notoriously sensational QMF Winter gig at the gorgeous Apostle Restaurant & Café in Queenscliff. Last year’s sell out event had the crowd rockin’ and this year’s line up ensures there’s going to be an even bigger head of steam with the lucky few grooving to the soul sounds of Ella, Dan and Steve…. QMF is putting on a night of groovin’ soul featuring rising star Dan Sultan with his 7 piece big band, the knockout sounds of Miss Ella Thompson, and the traffic stopping vocals of local faves Stephen McEwan & The Yes Men. Tickets are on sale now so avoid disappointment and get in early. Queenscliff Music Festival knew it early on. Now the rest of Australia is catching up! A highlight of many at the 2006 Queenscliff Music Festival, the Melbourne-born Dan Sultan is one of the finest roots musicians to come out of the city in recent years. Dan’s vocals and guitar can only be described as equal parts blues, soul, and country, infused with a dry sense of humour and a storyteller’s ability to take us on a lyrical journey into a world where the roads are dusty, the heart is lonely, and the likes of Johnny Cash and Otis Redding blare out of the car stereo. Winner of the Single Release of the Year at the 2007 Deadly Awards. 2008 saw Dan touring with the “Union of Soul” tour with the John Butler Trio and The Waifs as well as delivering stunning performances at WOMAD and Byron Bay Blues Festival… Already 2009 has seen Dan and his guitarist and co-writer Scott Wilson perform on the MCG as part of the ‘Dreamtime at the G’ game between Richmond and Essendon. QMF is pleased to welcome him back in 2009 when he comes to Queenscliff with his big soul band complete with horn section and keys ready to entertain the town with their own style of Country Soul Rock N Roll. “When Dan and his shit-hot, tight ‘n’ terrific band took to the Gershwin Room’s hallowed stage, I knew that there was magic in the air. Dan, who has the type of classic soulful vocal delivery guaranteed to ignite the goose-bumps, is a likeable, confident performer adept at building the vibe to fever pitch. The audience screamed and jived as Dan whipped out some funktastic dance moves, held his guitar like it was a weapon and rode the surging wave of joyous energy pumped out by the type of band James Brown would have been proud of”. BEAT MAGAZINE The annual QMF winter gig helps to raise vital funds for the Festival later in the year. A community based organisation, the QMF appreciates your support in raising funds to contribute to the continued growth and sustainability of our premier music event. A 2008 QMF framed poster, signed by all of the 2008 artists, will be available for auction on the night. This is a one off, and a must have for QMF lovers. Tickets have no sold out, 2 years in a row!
