Kids, Teenagers, X and Y generations danced together when on Friday night the Queen of Pop, Marcia Hines showed the style she is famous for and set the tone of the weekend. The Original Wailers delivered the crowd pleasing hits to a tent packed to the rafters in the final Saturday night set. In the closing set of the festival Tim Finn announced “this Festival is unique, I’ll be back!” to a rapturous crowd. Festival director, Barbara Moss said the results of our drive to expand the depth of the programming this year shone through. A particular pleasure is to overhear comments made in the crowd, “Last year’s program was good, but this year there’s much more depth”. “I had no idea this festival was so good, how come we haven’t been before?” “Before we go home tomorrow, let’s go see the real estate agents and find a house for next year.” The other part of success equation is that we put on such a magnificent event in safe and happy manner. Minister for Tourism and Major Events Tim Holding came as a special guest of the festival and in his address made particular mention of the award winning nature of this festival which being in the Victorian Tourism Hall of Fame for the most significant Festival and Event in the state, also holds a national title for the same award and was this year nominated in the prestigious Helpmann Awards for Best contemporary Music Festival. Tim was impressed by the way the Festival integrates the township, and generates widespread and lasting benefits to the town and the region. Organisers are now looking ahead to a great 2010.
