‘Darling of the tropical north’. A storyteller at heart with the voice of an angel, Leah Flanagan can also wield a mean ukelele. As hometown Darwin locals will attest, this darling of the tropical north, has been playing original songs to passionate acclaim since she could swing a tune but now the rest of the world is quickly catching on.

Since the release of her 2010 acclaimed album NIRVANA NIGHTS, a tribute to a small, defiantly seedy bar in Darwin, Leah has been going from strength to strength. She’s been winning the hearts of audiences at festivals and selling out venues across the country with her honesty, charm and musical prowess.

In fact it was Leah’s versatile musicality which lead to her being invited to be involved with the show deemed as 2010’s “collaboration of the year”, Seven Songs to Leave Behind for the Melbourne International Arts Festival. This production saw her work with Internationally famed and acclaimed heavy weights such as Sinead O’Connor, Meshell Ndegeocello, Ricki Lee Jones and John Cale.

Most recently her uke-fused tropical stylings caught the attention of Jimmy Buffett who invited Leah to support him on his Australian Tour in January this year.

Perhaps it’s her intrinsic blend of Indigenous Australian, Irish and Italian descent that sets her apart from many other singer/songwriters, but one thing is a definite, it is her beautiful voice and distinctive take on folk, soul and country has made her a favourite on the major festival circuit.

Thanks to her seemingly endless resources of talent, hard work and Darwin charm, Leah has firmly set herself a place in the Australian music scene. Her down-to-earth personality translates effortlessly through her live performances, with a delivery of utter sincerity, humility and playfulness at the most heart-warming degree.
