And now folks, forget the massive introduction as this man achieved a revered status long ago! And so with much respect and delight we announce the inclusion of TIM FINN, Te Awamutu’s favourite son, founder of art/rock pioneers Split Enz and one of Australia’s most loved singer songwriters. For over 30 years Tim Finn has enjoyed a career that has produced some of this country’s most loved and celebrated songs. From ‘Six Months In A Leaky Boat’ and ‘I Hope I Never’ through to his time in Crowded House (with brother, Neil) and songs such as ‘Weather With You’ and ‘It’s Only Natural’, spread liberally throughout, this is a remarkable solo career that also produced chart toppers such as ‘Fraction Too Much Friction’ and ‘Made My Day’ With an enviable mix of critical acclaim for his albums and mainstream popularity, TIM FINN has always shrugged off any suggestion of legend or icon status…preferring to push forward with his songwriting, inspiring a new generation of artists such as Katy Steele, Andy Bull, Megan Washington and Josh Pyke in the process. TIM FINN remains a very relevant and important artist and, as with all true renaissance men, is now trying his hand at theatre (the Sydney season of his stage production Poor Boy has just concluded) and film (currently working on an independent NZ film). You would think this would be enough for now…but we’re talking about TIM FINN here, who in October will release his first ever 2CD Anthology capturing all his career highlights along with some exciting new tracks. His performance at Queenscliff will be a genuine celebration and if his recent appearances are anything to go by, it will be one not to miss. |
