Their sound can be best described as a mix of blues, soul, rock and country. As result of this diversity, the band have performed at a wide range of festivals such as The Falls Festival, Bluesfest, Port Fairy Folk Festival and indigenous events .The now seven piece band have built up a solid reputation for their knock out live performances. Unlike the first album that was performed almost entirely by Dan and Scott, the new release finds an established band of great musicians in full swing.
The much anticipated second album ‘ Get Out While You Can‘ was recorded in Melbourne by Jonathan Burnside using a myriad of vintage equipment to achieve a supremely warm and genuine sound.
The title track was inspired by a tale of a couple soon to be separated by war. Their lifeline, someone who these days would be referred to as a people smuggler. Themes range from drug addiction,, prison and domestic violence to skydiving accidents and goddess worship, while musically leaping from big band soul to outback country and rockabilly and beyond…
Sultan’s career is about to explode thanks to collaborations, touring, festivals and a starring role in the upcoming feature film Bran Nue Dae, with a cast of stars including Geoffrey Rush, Missy Higgins and Jessica Mauboy.
