History

Quick Links

Queenscliff Music Festival was founded in 1997 by a small band of locals keen to increase the value of tourism to the local economy and to promote Queenscliff’s unique characteristics. Over the years the team behind the festival has grown with several paid staff and more than 400 volunteers who present a 3 -day musical and cultural event on the last weekend in November. Each year upwards of 10,000 people gather to enjoy a diverse range of contemporary music, local foods and drinks and family friendly activities.

Queenscliff is a picturesque, historic township located on Waddawarung country on the Bellarine Peninsula, 35 kms from Geelong and 100kms from Melbourne. The festival site is nestled amongst the ancient, towering Cypress trees in Lower Princess Park, with a backdrop of stunning views of Port Phillip Bay, Sorrento and the Queenscliff Harbour.

When you combine the ingredients of: close up and personal musical experiences, the beautiful natural environment, the convivial company of friends and family and the pleasure of wandering amongst the historic buildings of Queenscliff  you have a perfect recipe for a truly magical weekend.

Queenscliff Music Festival, and regular Town Hall concerts throughout the year, are governed by a registered not-for-profit incorporated association which is committed to being a creative, and socially responsible organisation which engages and fosters the community and arts.
